A place that gives character
In the heart of the Goriška Brda, where vineyards blend softly with orchards and rolling hills, lies a small yet remarkably special corner – Skrje.
The name comes from the local word for the hard, grey marl soil that defines this land.
According to the tales of the elders, pieces of this stone were once transported to the nearby Italian coast, where they were used to build piers. What remained was brought back – and from these scattered stones across the slopes, the place took its name: Skrje.

Where the vine grows slowly – with purpose

Marly soils do not spare the vines - they deprive them of excess water and rich nutrients, but they give them depth, ripeness, and mineral purity.
Here, the vines do not grow quickly, but thoughtfully, every year in perfect balance with nature.
From this demanding soil comes the wine SKRJE – full and sophisticated.
In every taste, you feel the stone, the earth, the sun… and the silence in which the vine ripens.
More than just wine

SKRJE is not just a wine.
It is a story of a land that does not give quickly, but rewards richly.
It is an expression of belonging, of respect for nature, and of hands that know each wine individually – how it breathes, when it needs rest, and when a gentle touch.
A legacy confirmed through centuries

In 1787, Empress Maria Theresa included Brda in the first official classification of winegrowing regions in Europe – nearly eighty years before Burgundy in France.
This means that Brda is part of the world’s first officially recognized wine-growing region.
It is not just a historical curiosity, but a confirmation of what SKRJE reveals in every glass:
wines with character, strength, and timeless value.
